Text Cleanup Tools › Find, extract and count
Extract Email Addresses
Find every email address in a block of text and list them one per line.
Processed on your device. Nothing is uploaded or stored on a server.
How it works
- Paste text that contains email addresses, such as a copied thread or document.
- Leave "Remove duplicates" on to get a unique list.
- Copy the addresses.
Example
Contact Ana <Ana.Lopez@Example.com>, sales@shop.co.uk or support@shop.co.uk. CC: ana.lopez@example.com; bad@address
ana.lopez@example.com sales@shop.co.uk support@shop.co.uk
What this tool does
The pattern finds the usual shape of an address: characters, an @ sign, a domain and an ending of two or more letters. It deliberately ignores things that are not complete addresses, such as "bad@address" with no domain ending. With duplicates removed, addresses are also lowercased so Ana.Lopez@Example.com and ana.lopez@example.com count as one. Use this for tidying your own contact lists and correspondence; make sure you have a lawful basis, such as consent, before emailing people from any list.
Common problems
An address with unusual characters was missed
Rare but valid address formats, such as quoted local parts, are not matched.
I want the results in a comma-separated line
Copy the list and paste it into the lines-to-list tool.
Questions
Does it check that addresses really exist?
No. It only finds text shaped like an address. It cannot tell whether a mailbox exists.
Does it keep the display names?
No, only the addresses.
Is it OK to email everyone I extract?
Not necessarily. Anti-spam and privacy laws can apply, so make sure you have permission.
